Ray tracing is officially coming to Fortnite today. Nvidia compatible players and GPUs using DirectX12 can now enable ray tracing and Nvidia’s DLSS feature.
The update comes with all the usual improvements you’d expect from ray tracing. The main ones are better reflections and shadows, but also ambient occlusion and global illumination in real-time.
But don’t take our word for it. Nvidia collaborated with Creative Mode to create a custom minigame map that’s supposed to showcase all those new features. It’s basically a giant museum full of small challenges, all wrapped up in a shiny, highly reflective package.
If you can’t get into Fortinet now, please provide two pictures to show the difference with ray tracing.
Nvidia’s DLSS feature increases the frame rate when using ray tracing, which is understandable, as ray tracing is still a feature sought after by many GPUs. Nvidia offers three different display options with DLSS, allowing gamers to choose between graphical fidelity and a normal display. Nvidia’s Reflex feature, another part of the new update, also serves to reduce CPU pressure during GPU-intensive scenes with low latency.
What is ray tracing?
Ray tracing makes Shadow of the Tomb Raider better than ever.
Shadows are very difficult to represent in video games; You’ve probably played some games where they have unnatural edges, flickering, translucent, and other similar oddities.
NVIDIA’s ray tracing technology is a huge step up from traditional shadow mapping techniques – its shadows have realistic twilights, translucency, own shadows, and more. As a result, you get a more sheer, natural-looking shade to apply throughout the game.

How to activate ray tracing in Fortnite
The good news is that it is not difficult to do.
Go to your settings in the game, then go to advanced settings, and then you can see the option of ray tracing there.
Simply turn it on and reboot your system to fully activate it, and then you can watch Fortnite in its downright disgusting glory.
Of course, you’ll need a computer that can actually handle this, otherwise, you’ll force your PC to suffer for no reason at all.
How to enable ray tracing in Minecraft on Windows 10
Follow these steps to enable ray tracing
- Open the Microsoft Store and type Minecraft for Windows 10.
- Buy the game and install it on your PC if you haven’t already.
- Launch Minecraft by clicking the Play button.
- Tap Marketplace from the Minecraft main menu.
- Click on the magnifying glass icon, then type “RTX” and hit the Enter key.
- Select any official RTX package from Nvidia and install it.
- Go back to the main menu and click Play.
- Select Create New and choose one of the RTX World templates.
- After loading int press ESC and go to settings and then video.
- Scroll down and make sure Ray Tracing is enabled.
Work With Ray Tracing
View the design automatically or manually, specify the mode, view and save it as an image, or turn off ray tracing.
Changing the orientation of the view or entering any other command interrupts the ray tracing process. When appropriate, such as when using orbit, the ray tracing process resumes when the trigger command is interrupted. For other commands, ray tracing is automatically disabled. Use the access point on the ribbon to re-enable ray tracing.
When you enable ray tracing, the bar opens in the lower right corner of the screen, providing access to three modes. The process begins with the default settings. When complete, the ray-tracing bar is automatically hidden after a few seconds. Moving the cursor to the bar area shows the bar again.
If a ray-traced rendering process takes more than 3 seconds, a progress bar appears in the lower right corner of the screen. Clicking the X turns ray tracing off and the progress bar closes.

Minimum Requirements for Minecraft Ray Tracing
If you want to run Minecraft RTX, you should think about your particular graphics card. As you have been warned, ray tracing is a very resource-demanding feature. According to Nvidia, you should go with the GeForce RTX 2060 or newer if you want things to run smoothly. With this information in mind, here is a list of RTX-compatible graphics cards.
GeForce RTX 2060 Super
GeForce RTX 2060
GeForce RTX 2070 Super
GeForce RTX 2070
GeForce RTX 2080 Super
GeForce RTX 2080
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
However, having one of the above doesn’t mean that things will go smoothly. Your system specs will affect how the game will behave. Therefore, here’s what you can consider as a minimum.
Corsair DDR4 RAM 16GB or 32GB
Samsung 860 EVO SSD 250GB or Samsung 970 EVO SSD 250GB
Intel Core i5 10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Apart from the GPU supported with Windows 10 Home 64bit, the above setup should be considered the minimum requirements for Minecraft RTX to run properly. Go down any and you risk a frame drop.
If you like Minecraft a lot, you might find this idea a bit strange. After all, Minecraft is not about graphics, but about pure gameplay. However, after trying Minecraft RTX, you will definitely fall in love. Ray tracing technology also beautifies this basic-looking set. Light, shadow, everything is fine.
If you have the right build for it, you don’t need to buy the game. Try the free trial and decide later if you want to spend the $ 30.
However, if you don’t have the correct settings, you may not be willing to upgrade. However, new game releases will use ray tracing; It is destined to become the industry standard. So the upgrade might be something you want to consider.
As long as you have the right hardware components and are willing to spend $ 30, you can enable ray tracing in Minecraft. It is not too complicated either. Just download and install two apps from Microsoft Store and make some changes to them. If you want to try it, you can give the trial version a spin and decide if you like it or not.

How do I activate ray tracing in Shadow of the Tomb Raider?
You must activate Ray Tracing to use it. Just go to the Video> Graphics Options screen and select the Medium, High, or Ultra settings.
Medium only turns on reflector shadows, while High Translucent turns on everything except shadows. In the end, Ultra offers you everything.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider now also supports DLSS.
DLSS essentially uses NVIDIA GeForce RTX capture cores to provide better image quality and better performance. This means that depending on your PC and settings, you can get up to 40% faster performance in your games.
To activate it in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you will need an NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU and the latest drivers.
If you’ve done all of that, just go to options and choose NVIDIA RTX DLSS from the on-screen menu.
